Communications / Media Relations

Committee Overview

The Communications/Media Relations Committee's goal is to ensure all media and communication materials distributed by PWCC conform to brand standards.  To this end, the Communications/Media Relations Committee:

  • Approves and/or drafts press releases and other written materials about PWCC·
  • Produces content for monthly PWCC newsletter
  • Edits and approves PWCC Community Blog
  • Collaborates and brainstorms opportunities with Media Sponsor, Chicago Woman
  • Develops, writes, edits, and designs a variety of materials, including website content,          marketing brochures, membership recruitment materials, and speaker packets
  • Approves and/or drafts speaker biographies
  • Crafts communication guidelines as appropriate
  • Remains knowledgeable of communication/media trends and reports these trends to the Board
  • Provides editorial feedback on communications developed by other committees and PWCC administration

Desired Committee Member Qualifications

  • Experience with marketing, PR, or advertising
  • Writing or blogging skills
  • Social media savvy
  • Works well with deadlines and meets or exceeds them
  • Ability to work with tight turn-around times on editing, writing, and reviewing

Community Alliance

Committee Overview

The Community Alliance Committee's goal is to be responsible for researching, recommending and implementing outreach based on PWCC’s values. To this end, the Community Alliance Committee:

  • Works to build awareness of PWCC though the involvement and support of other organizations who bring value to our membership
  • Collaborates with other women’s groups supporting the community to educate/inform PWCC of critical women’s issues meant to enhance and inspire
    F
    osters further participation in community events outside of Community Alliance Committee activities
  • Manages the eApplication process, including whether submissions align with PWCC’s mission
  • Creates and implements instructional programming that fosters the PWCC misison

Desired Committee Member Qualifications

  • Active in community events Engaged socially or professionally
  • Willing to contribute a point of view in making committee decisions
  • Authentic and comfortable with delivering both good and bad news
  • Broad-based knowledge of organizations and how they work

Corporate Sponsorship

Committee Overview

The Corporate Sponsorship Committee's goal is to create and grow funding sources as well as foster strategic partnerships so PWCC can effectively fulfill its Vision and Mission to serve its membership. To this end, the Corporate Sponsorship Committee: 

  • Leads the recruitment and retention of individual and corporate sponsor partnership opportunities with Chicago area based businesses
  • Leverages existing and new member relationships to secure financial contributions from local businesses
  • Identifies sources of funding with companies that are compatible with PWCC’s Vision and Mission
  • Assures periodic communication with sponsors to give them appropriate exposure and recognition commensurate with the level of sponsorship
  • Communicates the various contribution levels and corresponding corporate benefits
  • Plans and implements the annual sponsor recognition event

Desired Committee Member Qualifications

  • A desire to build long-term relationships with Club sponsors
  • Goal oriented and enthusiastic about PWCC
  • Sales or marketing background is helpful
  • Understanding of the sponsorship levels and how each work
  • Enthusiastic in developing new relationships outside of PWCC

Hospitality

Committee Overview

The Hospitality Committee's goal is to help members and guests feel a sense of community by encouraging relationship building and to increase guest-to-member conversions by offering a sense of belonging. To this end, the Hospitality Committee:

  • Communicates and liaisons with luncheon vendors to deliver consistent event experience for members and guests
  • Hosts monthly Connections & Conversations events held for new and existing members just prior to luncheons
  • Ensures table facilitators are trained and providing the best possible luncheon experience by adhering to consistent standards
  • Identifies and trains additional table facilitators twice per PWCC calendar year and works with administration to coordinate luncheon facilitators
  • Reviews and leverages monthly survey results to suggest ideas and improvements for the luncheons to the PWCC Board of Directors

Desired Committee Member Qualification

  • Outgoing, warm and welcoming personality to greet luncheon guests
  • Ability to facilitate and stay on track with Connections & Conversations meetings
  • Comfortable acting as a table facilitator
  • Interested in brainstorming ideas to enhance the luncheon and table facilitator experience

Membership

Committee Overview

The Membership Committee's goal is to monitor our high-quality member benefits, with a focus on attracting and retaining members. To this end, the Membership Committee:

  • Oversees and manages the Mentor-Mentee program
  • Oversees and maintains consistent Special Interest Group (SIG) protocols
  • Conducts annual and multi-year surveys to obtain member feedback; analyzes the results and presents recommendations to the board
  • Hosts the Members’ table at luncheon
  • Promotes the benefits of PWCC membership
  • Attends luncheons, happy hours, and events to engage with guests and members

Desired Committee Member Qualifications

  • Enjoys making personal outreach to guests, prospective members, and existing members
  • Knows PWCC benefits and can communicate them to members and prospective members
  • Is able to analyze survey results, identify trends, and make recommendations
  • Contributes a point of view in making committee decisions

Programs

Committee Overview


The Programs Committee's goal is to secure high-quality and inspirational speakers for PWCC’s monthly luncheons.  To this end, the Programs Committee:

  • Vets speakers from a cross-section of industry sectors
  •  Reviews member and guest suggestions for speakers and topics for the monthly luncheon
  • Maintains relationships with speaker throughout the year
  •  Seeks future speaker prospects from current and past speakers
  • Interfaces with the Communications/Media Relations Committee and Administration to ensure that all logistical and technical requirements are satisfied

Desired Committee Member Qualifications

  •  Possess interest in brainstorming potential speakers
  •  Leverage existing relationships (professional and personal) to network to potential speakers
  • Act as a hostess for several of the speakers prior to and during the luncheon (obtain biographical and program information); coordinate any special technology needs for the speakers
  • Excellent public speaking skills

Special Events

Committee Overview

The Special Events Committee's goal is to generate ideas and implement networking events to enhance members' PWCC experience.  To this end, the Special Events Committee:

  • Plans networking and enriching events including selecting menu, entertainment, and theme
  • Identifies venues that will maximize experience and attendance
  • Publicizes events in conjunction with Communications/Media Relations Committee
  • Plans a variety of events to provide members additional networking opportunities that accommodate their needs, schedules and locations

Desired Committee Member Qualifications

  • Event planning experience, is detail oriented, responsible and organized
  • Contributes a point of view in making event decisions
  • Socially outgoing, friendly and a good communicator
  • Creative and out of the box thinker
