This overall privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago’s (“PWCC”) web site. PWCC respects your privacy and has taken steps to protect your privacy online as outlined in this document.
PWCC is committed to providing you a satisfying and productive experience online. To make that possible, we gather personal information from you to help us provide a better service. Access to such personal information is never given or sold to third parties for any purpose without your approval. Only registered, current PWCC members will be able to view this information while logged on to the PWCC web site.
As part of our overall privacy protection we implemented the additional security of individual user names and passwords that members can manage and change on their own. To help us protect your privacy, you should maintain the secrecy of the username and password you set for access to the PWCC web site.
Information Gathering
To help us serve you better and facilitate your networking with other members, PWCC asks for personal information including your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, contact information, work history, educational background and career preferences. PWCC also automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, PWCC cookie information, and the page(s) you requested, so we can better understand how you use the web site.
Cookies
PWCC uses a feature on your Internet browser called a "cookie." Except as described in this privacy policy, where members have opted into certain disclosure PWCC does not disclose information about your individual visits to PWCC, or personal information that you provide, such as your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, work history, personal profile, etc., to any outside parties, except when we believe it is required by law or to protect PWCC, our users or others.
We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples may include hosting our web server, analyzing data, providing administrative assistance, and providing other services. These other companies will have access to your personal information as necessary to perform their functions, but they may not share that information with any third party.
PWCC may from time to time aggregate certain information about the demographics or use of the website to help promote PWCC for the benefit of its membership and recruiter/employer constituencies. Such information is in aggregate form and not at the individual level.
In addition to the information on the website PWCC will e-mail member renewal notices and meeting information to members. Infrequently, there may also be emails with special announcements about PWCC, such as new features.
Member Profiles
Members can choose to remove their resume from viewing by non-members at any time.
At PWCC, we recognize that member profiles are very sensitive information, which is why we keep them online in the password-protected members only area. Member profiles are searchable by members, in order to facilitate networking among our members.
Security
PWCC has security measures in place to protect the database from unauthorized access, use, or alteration of the information under our control. In the interest of security, we do not reveal specific methods used to secure information on our web server. All personal and resume information is protected.
We are not responsible for any breach of security or for any actions of any third parties which receive the information. PWCC also links to a wide variety of other sites. We are not responsible for their privacy policies or how they treat information about their users.
Updating the Privacy Statement
If we decide to update our privacy statement at PWCC, we will post those changes here so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and to whom we will disclose it.
