Making Your Member Profile Work For You

Making Your Member Profile Work For You

Twice in the past month I have looked to the PWCC Membership Directory to refer business and twice I've been disappointed not to find what I'm looking for. Not because there probably isn't someone in PWCC who offers what I need (non-profit accounting help and car and home owner's insurance) but because I would have had to call pretty much every member who came up under those respective categories to see if they actually offered the specific service I am looking for. And that's just not going to happen.

So if you haven't taken the time to update your Member Profile on the website, here's your call to action! Make it easy for other PWCC members to refer business to you by taking the following simple steps to maximize your membership:

1. Log in. Don't know how? Contact admin@pwcc.org for a login information refresher. Once you're logged in, you'll automatically be taken to your profile.

2. Complete your profile. Even if you can't figure out how to upload a picture (it was royal pain for me, but I made it work!), go ahead and complete the other parts so we know who you are and what you do.

3. Tell us how we can help you! Everyone has their sweet spot or niche or specialty or area of expertise. Make sure yours is clear in your profile. For example, there are 14 members listed under 'Accounting,' but I'm sure that not all of us provide the same work. Are you an auditor? Small business tax specialist? Non-profit accountant? Tell us the kind of client you want sent your way!

4. Return the favor. Remember to look to the Membership Directory the next time someone asks you for a recommendation! Isn't that one of the reasons you joined anyway?

The PWCC developed our website to assist members with making the most out of their membership and to foster a community of women helping other women. With just a few clicks and fifteen minutes, you can greatly increase the chance that the next time someone's looking for help in your business area, she'll call you!

P.S. I'm still looking for a CPA who specializes in small non-profits to help with an audit and also am seeking quotes on our auto and renters policy! If that's you, look me up in the directory and give me a shout. Thanks!
